Blue Chese Sauces Are Not Created Equal…

This is one of my favorite lines on the TV show Modern Family. The character Phil Dunphy is a quitter and claims to be tired and miserable. He says, “I quit the French Cooking Academy after learning only two of the five Mother Sauces,” after naming several things he has quit in his life.

Yes, I might have a warped sense of comedy and be a foodie. But when I heard that, I just started crying while laughing.

It is fascinating to see how Hollywood writers feel that enough people know about French mother sauces for this to be funny. There is so much to life, including suffering.

You want to do the absolute opposite when this inevitable feeling arises. But while you keep yourself hidden from others, I
